After make us wait for two long year, Apple has taken the covers off the long-awaited successor of the brilliant Series 5 watch. The new Series 6 is available in two sizes (40 and 44mm), a range of beautiful colors, and in a variety of case materials. But perhaps more importantly, it features a brand new sensor, which makes it brighter and faster than its predecessor.

However, with the wearable gadgets segment as competitive it is these days, does it have what it takes to become the king of smartwatches? Here’s all you need to know about the Apple Watch series 6.

Battery & Performance

At the heart of the Series 6 lies Apple’s brand new S6 chip, which is fluid and fast enough to wipe the floor with even the best-performing smartwatches on the market right now. Apple claims that the new watch is 20% faster than its predecessor—which was already one of the fastest smartwatches on the market.

Battery life is pretty solid—if not class-leading—as well. Even if you leave sleep tracking enabled overnight and the always-on display on ‘active’, the Series 6 will last for more than 36 hours without needing to be charged. When it comes to lifespan, Apple hasn’t given us any exact figures. However, similar batteries typically maintain 80% of their capacity after 500 charge cycles.

Sustainable

The casing for the new Apple Series 6 Watch is made from 100% recycled aluminum and its various components are made from 99% recycled tungsten. A power adapter isn’t included in the box, but that’s okay as the device’s wireless charging puck uses a standard USB-A cable.

The Cupertino-based company is also using sustainable energy for the final assembly of the Series 6 watch and broke down the environmental impact of the product in its report.

WatchOS 7

The Series 6 comes with the latest and the greatest version of the WatchOS 7 operating system, which also runs on the other Apple wearables. Seven new watch faces were introduced with the new OS, and it also brought other amazing features like on-device voice dictation. Notification handling, including texts and calls, has been improved as well.

  1. Series 6 is Apple Watch at its best. To help you be your best. Recently had an Apple Watch Series 5 and upgraded to the 6 – Extremely happy with my decision.
Although the differences between the 5 and 6 are minimal – it’s still worth it.
SPO2 monitor – can be run manually otherwise it runs automatically while you are in a workout and while you sleep.
    Brighter screen
    Faster charging
    Faster processing/apps
I’ve also tried Android watches in the past and the Apple watches are by far more superior. Their sensors are much better and more accurate. The apps are better, and the screen is brighter/higher quality.
If you don’t need all the bells and whistles, get the SE otherwise if you are a data-oriented person, this watch will give you an abundance of data to enjoy.
