When you buy any product, it is a really crucial and important thing to identify whether iPhone is Original or Not. We should educate ourselves to note down the difference and distinguish the original from the duplicate. Even though there are various unauthorized manufacturing companies who try to make the replica of the iPhone, there are numerous ways we can identify the original iPhone from the duplicate. So today, let us know what all we should keep in mind or note down while purchasing an iPhone. We’ll learn how to differentiate one from the other.

Find the serial number or IMEI on your iPhone:

By validating your serial number, you can easily identify whether your product is an iPhone with an Apple database or not.

  • First we should learn how to find the serial number, ICCID, IMEI/MEID, and CDN on your iPhone.
  • You can find these numbers in different places, which includes, on the physical device, in Finder, and in Settings as well.
  • And to identify your device, you can also use the  IMEI/MEID or the serial number by contacting the Apple service.

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity

To find your serial number, IMEI/MEID, or ICCID:

  1. Go to General on Settings, and click the About button.
  2. There you’ll find the serial number, IMEI/MEID, or ICCID. You might have to scroll a little to find it on the list.
  3. If you would like to save this somewhere on your phone, you just have to press and copy the text to paste it wherever you would like to.

If you still couldn’t find what you are looking for, worry not, there are still other ways to find it out

Find it on iTunes or in Finder:

  • In order to achieve this, first connect your device to a computer.
  • Open the Finder on your  Mac with macOS Catalina 10.15 or later.
  • Open iTunes On a Mac with macOS or earlier, or on a Computer, then, discover your device.
  • If it’s on iTunes, just tap on the summary tab to view the information.

To locate your iPhone, select the phone number below your device name or the device model to find the IMEI/MEID and ICCID.

There are other possible methods to find out the IMEI/MEID and ICCID, if you are not in a position to access your device.

  • Type appleid.apple.com in a web browser on your PC.
  • Click on it and sign in with your Apple ID that you use on your device.
  • Just scroll down when you are on the device section to locate your IMEI/MEID and ICCID and serial number.

Check Warranty card:

Apple provides us limited time, mostly a year;  to claim the warranty of the product we bought, either from the Apple store or from any authorised platform. Since we have learnt how to get the serial number, we can easily check whether our phone has a warranty or not.

Goto https://checkcoverage.apple.com/

We just have to enter the number on Apple’s service and support page and click the continue button to get the result. If your phone is original and has a warranty, we’ll see a page before us, listing the iPhone model, warranty period and many more such important details.

Keep in mind that if your phone is fake, or used, none of the information or not all the information will be visible on the page and the warranty card will be shown expired.

Have a look at iPhone Model number:

Some companies sell the refurbished iPhone of the old model, claiming it as the new model. To save ourselves from this fraudulent act, we should know how to check the model number of the phone.

For that, head to setting, from there tap on the General menu and there you’ll find  About. That’s where you’ll get the model number.

The first letter will represent the nature or model of your phone, whether it is M, F, N or P. If you fail to identify any of the letters given above, it is more likely to be a fake iPhone.

  • M → Devices marked with this letter are brand new, meaning they were purchased recently
  • F → A device that has been refurbished means that it has undergone refurbishing
  • N → This model is a replacement for the original purchased model, likely due to a service request
  • P → It means that the device was customized with an engraving at the time of purchase

Have a look at the iPhone box description:

Be it a new or used iPhone, if you are planning to buy one, make sure to check the details printed on the back of the iPhone box. And compare the details given on the box with that of those in the settings, General and About. Make sure it matches. Plus, for every iPhone box, there’ll be a description printed as:  “Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China”. If any of these are missing or you find any mismatch, it is likely to be a fake phone.

Memory slot:

Apple iPhone doesn’t provide any memory slots to insert memory cards for enhancing the storage. Instead they are modelled with an inbuilt memory size. If you find otherwise, it is probably a fake iPhone.

External features to identify:

Not just by digging inside the device, you can also identify the credibility of the product by examining the external features of Apple iPhone. Just by locating the hardware features of the product, like: Home button which is modeled beneath the screen, the sleep/wake button on the top corner (right), and a lot other features to identify the device. Most importantly the logo, it has become so hard to identify the duplicate from the original but still if you have a closer look and gently touch the logo on the outer cover and find any transition between the logo and the phone, it is likely to be a fake iPhone.  So if any of these seems to be situated in a different style or in a different position, it is likely to be a fake iPhone product.

Check Coverage:

You can also check the credibility of your iPhone just by entering your serial number which you’ll find on your mobile, from settings>General>About. On the Apple Check Coverage page, you’ll see an address bar to enter your serial number and after clicking the search button, you’ll get the details of your iPhone easily.

Conclusion:

Today’s digital era is developed into such a way that one can easily develop a fake copy of any product. So by learning these techniques, we can save ourselves from deception, if not completely but to an extent and understand how to identify if the iPhone is Original or Not. Moreover, it is always helpful to learn our device more accurately to use it efficiently. Browse the latest collection of iPhone at our store
